Microsoft version not loading in Windows 10

Recently I got a new desktop rig with Windows 10 installed. I went on to install my copy of IC, since I haven't bought the Steam Edition yet. After installing it I clicked on the desktop icon and got an access denied window saying "log in with administration privileges". I changed the compatibility of the game to Windows XP (both Service Pack 2 and 3) and click on the icon as an admin. This time around I don't get the access denied window but nothing happens. Even after reinstalling the game nothing happens at all, not even the splash screen. In the meantime I can load up Mission Editor as well the RDN tools with no problems.
Any idea how to solve it?

Please paste the contents of the file warnings.log, located in your root Impossible Creatures folder.

Personally, I highly recommend purchasing either the Steam or GoG edition of the game. It's only US$10 and has been remastered to run on modern systems.

Have you tried right clicking the shortcut and selecting "run as administrator"?
