I take great pride in my contribution to the Tellurian project.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=THCj0JqILawOkay, you got me there, apparently they can. But, uh, not particularly well. See in the above video, it takes the scorpion an hour to excavate a hole a couple centimetres deep... I mean, wolves can dig better than that. Shit, elephants can dig better than that.

Then explain the lack of elephant burrows, created to accommodate one elephant?

That's easy. There IS no lack. It's just that elephants are quite large and there used to be rather a lot of them. The entire surface of the Earth is burrows dug by elephants in order for them to reach a "more comfortable level of humidity and temperature" etc. etc., it's just that when you dig that many big holes, the bottoms of them become the surface.
Elephants are capable spelunkers, if that helps.

Contrary to popular belief, lava tubes are actually elephant burrows.

No. What? Don't be ridiculous. Elephants can't survive in lava. Those are rhino burrows, hence their thicker skin.

C'mon, Pug...
Scorpions can burrow. Some species better than others, and IC is never really picky about the EXACT species of any creature...

No. What? Don't be ridiculous. Elephants can't survive in lava. Those are rhino burrows, hence their thicker skin. But they can't breathe in lava, batfucking. Elephants have trunks that evolved specifically for that. Not to mention their humongous ears that are clearly there to keep them cool by waving while under lava.

No, the ears are for lava locomotion.
... Wait FUCK. That means you're right. You win this round, Spermy.
But all that means is that elephants can dive under lava, while rhinos must remain at the surface, making rhinos by far the most suitable lava-capable mounts. Because they won't pull you to the bottom of a lava lake to drown (after you've incinerated).

Fire artillery from their trunks? How would they breathe then?
It's like you're not even trying to use science.

Lavaphants have gills like fish. They suck in lava through their trunks and then extract the oxygen from it only to discharge the lava through the trunk. Also, Because they won't pull you to the bottom of a lava lake to drown (after you've incinerated). They can use their ears to create lava lift and keep themselves afloat.

But why would they? They have to descend to graze upon the lava plants.
