Well, obviously the Ostrich wouldn't be a pamphlet, but I agree.
If anything a speedy melee creature. Like a faster Kangaroo?
not sure about Ostriches, but a Cassowary would make for a fierce creature, they're territorial, solitary and they flip out when disturbed...plus they look cool.
