I think you might have skipped a LOD or something, 'cos it appears very low poly in the combiner in the preview window.

All the Tel creatures do and no one knows why. It just stands out more with NMR.

What does LOD stand for?

Yes. So you don't have to render a full detail model if the camera is too far to actually see any of the detail. From what I see, IC uses LOD1 as the combiner model (the full quality one being LOD0). How did you LOD these models? By hand or some magical boolean in gmax?

Lester, what you're talking about-- levels of detail-- it's not quiiite how things work in IC. You don't make the individual levels of detail. You just make the most detailed model IC will allow-- i.e. the ones you see in the army builder (when you actually combine them into creatures). To do that, you use patch modelling.
Patch modelling involves making a regular poly model, but then using handles to bend the edges joining the vertices, making a higher detail model with less vertices.
What you see in the little combiner pic of the naked mole rat (aye, all the Tel creatures) is a patch model with the vertices joined directly by straight edges, rather than the curved patch edges that you see in the actual combined view.
The view steps Matt is talking about is the number of corners (between the vertices) in each edge. Like, if view steps is set to 0, then hey presto, you get a poly model with straight edges rather than a patch. If you set the view steps to 2, then the edge can bend (change direction) twice between any two vertices.
I don't know if that makes sense. Basically there Aren't levels of detail in the models, as such.

Thank you, Puglin. I just had an idea and this post of yours got me fondling.
I hereby declare the following statement Lester's Law: "If it's ever been naked, it's on the internet."
Closely related to Rule 34.

And naturally the follow-on law, Lester's Second Postulate: "If it's ever been naked, it's probably been inside Lester's mother".
Which does seem to imply that the internet itself is largely inside Lester's mother.
Thus proving that Lester's mother is a computer.
Murphy's Law joins in at this point to lead us to the assumption that Lester's mother is a terminator.
Jesus I don't even know anymore. XD. I'm going to go eat something made of caffeine.

You're way off. I recently edited Lester's Rule #1 to this: "If it's ever been naked, it will be on the internet eventually."
Also, Lester's Rule #2: "While on the internet, always assume the person you're chatting with is fapping. Because he is."
And Lester's Rule#3: "While on the internet, always assume the person you're chatting with is male. Because he is. Transvestites and shemales don't count."
